FAQs

How do i schedule an appointment with you?

If you are new to my booking process, please start by filling out my booking form with a little information about your idea. The form will guide you through details to include about the size and placement, allow you to send reference images, and whether you have a budget you are trying to work within. I will reach out if I have any further questions about your idea, and if it feels like a good fit I will send you my calendar availability through square booking, which will require a $100 non-refundable deposit when you book your appointment. If you’re thinking about getting tattooed but you’re unsure, a booking form is a great place to start and does not require that you follow through with scheduling an appointment! I would love to discuss your idea with you and this is a great jumping off point, it asks all the questions I need to know so I can answer your questions as accurately as possible.

where do you work?

I tattoo by appointment only at Fool Heart Tattoo in downtown Providence, RI. We are located at 184 Mathewson St, Pvd, RI 02903 ₍ᐢ. ̞.ᐢ₎

how does the design process work?

Once you have filled out a booking form, left a deposit, and secured an appointment date, I will begin to work on designing your tattoo. What this process looks like depends a lot on your idea!

I love tattooing traditional flash designs as well as replicating handwriting from a loved one or a significant symbol; these designs are usually pretty straightforward and most of your design process is done at the time of the appointment. Most of the work I do references the imagery or themes in my paintings, whether it be straight off the page or custom work expanding on an idea. If you don’t see something in my portfolio that reflects your vision, feel free to fill out a booking form. If I don’t think your idea falls within my skill set as an artist, I am happy to refer you to other artists in the area, we have a great community of tattooers in New England!

If you have an idea that you would like me to draw, I would love to do that for you! Most of what you see in my portfolio are tattoos I have designed for my clients. The more reference material you can provide me, the closer to what you have in your head I can get. If you have images you like the shapes, colors, or design in, send them to me! I do not send out drawings beforehand, please let this be motivation to provide me with detailed information about your idea. I make suggestions and adjustments to designs to ensure that they will age well and fit your body appropriately, but it’s important to me that your tattoo is a reflection of you and I want your input to help make that happen. I invite you to engage in an open dialogue about the design and application of your tattoo, respecting your comfort and agency as a client are an important part of my practice.

I don’t replicate custom tattoos or designs from other artists without that artist’s stated permission. It’s important to me to respect other artist’s work the same way I would like my work to be treated with respect.

how much does a tattoo cost?

I charge $200/hour and have a $150 minimum. I will do my best to give you an estimate of how much time a tattoo will take, with the disclaimer that I am not able to predict exactly how long a tattoo is going to take. If you have a budget you are trying to work within, please let me know, we can make a plan that works for both of us, whether that be exactly what you want, a simpler version, or breaking your tattoo up into multiple sessions.

do you have a minimum?

Yes, I have a $150 minimum. This covers the cost of the disposable products I use to set up for each tattoo, no matter how big or how small. I know it only took a moment! Please consider that the reason your tiny tattoo was so quick and easy owes a lot to the time and study I have dedicated to my craft.

how should i prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Please make sure to bring a valid ID to your appointment, this is required by law in order for me to tattoo you. If you do not have an ID, we will need to reschedule your appointment and this will affect your deposit.

I recommend preparing for your tattoo by getting a good night’s rest and making sure to eat a full meal before your appointment. On the day of the tattoo, I recommend bringing a piece of fruit or snack and a bottle of water to your appointment, being well-nourished and hydrated for your appointment helps things go smoothly.

Please do not get drunk or use drugs before your tattoo appointment. This is a matter of safety as well as out of respect for me. Tattooing is an exercise in focus and stamina for both of us, let’s streamline this process by both showing up ready to make a great tattoo.

how old do i have to be to get tattooed?

18 years old, with a valid ID. No exceptions, no parental permission, period.

do i have to leave a deposit?

Yes, I require a $100 deposit to schedule a tattoo appointment.

My schedule relies on my clients respecting and valuing my time so that I can spend my time in studio actively tattooing. When a client cancels last minute or does not show up to their appointment, that leaves me with that window of time open and often not enough time to fill the spot.

For more on this, please read my deposit policy.

When will you be back in MPlS?

I would love to be visiting my friends and working with clients in Minneapolis again soon! I do not have any travel dates scheduled at this time, if you would like to be among the first to know when I plan to be back, please subscribe to my newsletter. Until then, go see the guys at Sea Wolf!

does my tattoo need a touch-up?

It is just as important to me as it is to you that your tattoo looks its best! The healing process is unique to each individual, and my touch up policy reflects that. Once the tattoo is healed, please get in contact with me if your tattoo needs anything. Please allow 4-6 weeks before contacting me, the tattoo needs to be completely healed before we are able to address any issues. This policy extends one year after the tattoo was applied, if it is beyond that window of time, please get in touch with me and we can make a plan. It is natural for a tattoo to age with your body, although tattoos do fade over time, it is not necessary to continually touch them up.
