Mimi Wunsch is a tattoo artist and painter living in Providence, RI.

My tattooing grows from my background in American traditional tattooing: solid line work, bold simple color palettes and heavy black shading. I like exploring the juxtaposition of the tough and the delicate and the way that wearers are able to explore these qualities through their tattoos. I am interested in what traditional American tattooing means today, updated to include those who have been excluded or misrepresented in traditional narratives. What does it mean to wear or apply a design that has been used for centuries? What lineage do we participate in and how does the way we wear it change its meaning today?

I spent the foundational years of my tattoo career working in Minneapolis, MN. I now live and work in Providence, RI. I work by appointment only at Fool Heart Tattoo in downtown Providence.
